Swine Flu measures

Posted by Comments Off

Schools across Mexico have closed and public gatherings are restricted, after more than 150 people are believed to have died from swine flu. The number of cases globally is rising, though no-one outside Mexico has died.
New swine flu infections were found around the world and the specter of a pandemic began to hit the travel industry as governments warned people to stay away from Mexico where 149 people have died.
Carnival Cruises said it canceled stops at Mexican ports for three of its ships on Tuesday and the Canadian tour operator Transat AT postponed flights to Mexico until June 1 due to the swine flu alert.
The virus is not caught from eating pig meat products but several countries, led by Russia and China, banned U.S. pork imports. The EU said it has no plans to restrict pig meat products from the United States. continue

La Paz BCS compromised

Posted by Comments Off

Unfortunately we discovered at the 6th. Jan. early afternoon that someone had managed to compromise one of the La Paz BCS Infotheque databases.
For sure we DO KNOW that the incident was initiated from a IP address in La Paz. This is lame! All what it does is create a few hours of work and we are back online! So what’s the purpose if this?? Competition?? The famous “La Paz crabs”?? Don’t know what that is?? As k a local and he will explain you the expression. Another point of view in “the La Paz way” to compete!! Well, whoever you are: we hope you had fun and take on the challenge!
The unit was configured and maintained to industry standards. We’ve taken the machine offline and we are in process to reinstall it. We’re still investigating exactly what happened and the extent of the damage. We’ll post more info as soon as we reasonably can. At the moment we concentrate to re-establish mail services and re-issue referring credentials. Additional we reinforce and take steps to keep bots from executing dictionary attacks and reduce the threat of SQL injection attacks. We are very sorry for any inconvenience.

Considering the beautiful beach and azure water, the proximity to town and services, as well as the potential growth of this southern Baja location, developers Hefner and Shore, S. de R.L. de C.V. seized the opportunity to purchase 4,026 m2 (45,000 square feet) of land with 330 feet of beachfront for luxury condominiums in June of 2005. Now, these luxury units are ready for occupancy in Spring 2009. Units of all sizes are still available for investors, retirees, or anyone looking to experience the abundant recreational opportunities, then relax and enjoy tranquil sunsets on the Bay of La Paz.

Estrella de La Paz was created by the sheer popularization of photoblogging around the world. The mission is to inspire, encourage and unite the global photoblogging community. And as we all know…. La Paz is not off this planet so let’s be part of the photo blogging community! We set out to find out why people choose to photoblog – Yes, yes, they connect to others, become a part of a community and improve their photographic skills. But these are mostly the outcome and reward of photobloging and not the initial motive. Before photoblogging we been posting our photos on sites like flickr or Picasa or our La Paz gallery pages here on the L.P. Infotheque. Very boring, after some time, and a good motivation to get a photoblog. We will continue with our gallery here yet main ‘lods’ as now the carnaval images provided by RC Foto and other contributors will be, with reference from here posted at the Estrella de La Paz photo blog. After all: Estrella means star in spanish and La Paz is our “star”!
