Fines are increased if you get caught violating traffic laws and regulations in La Paz. We did NOT independently verify the accuracy of a report by B. Crawford we seen at the cat-litter-box liner. We usual use that pamphlet laying out at some supermarkets aimed at gringos and consists of advertisements and other BS. Take one from 2002 and a 2012 issue. Same doo-doo!! Anyway, talk is about traffic laws and increased fines IF you… before we get into that I like to address a connected issue. very often you hear, mainly at online publications / foras this “La Paz police all corrupt etc.” talk. In a very simple way own experience: Foreigner, living almost 11 years Baja Sur (2 y. Loscabos, 9 y. La Paz). In this almost 9 years La Paz I got pulled over 3 times by La Paz traffic cops (in uniform) and 1 time by PGR at a street-block/control. All of the pull-over been 100% justified. 3 times I did cleary violate traffic rules. At the PGR control it was around midnight in a part of La Paz you rarely expect a foreigner, they stoped EVERY car and i could not produce the vehicle documents. continue

While La Paz was first inhabited by Neolithic hunter-gatherers at least 10,000 years ago who left traces of their existence in the form of rock paintings near the city and throughout the Baja peninsula is the “official” founding recorded on May 3, 1535. Hernán Cortés arrived in the bay by La Paz and named it Santa Cruz. He attempted to start a colony but abandoned his efforts after several years due to logistical problems. Almost 60 years later, in 1596 Sebastian Vizcaino arrived, giving the area its modern name, La Paz. From April 27 through May 5 take different festivities place to commemorate the foundation of the city featuring diverse artistic and cultural events. continue
The next I am reading is "There are other words to describe pacenos, such as chukuta, kolla, andino, or even some times arrogant." and then I see "The paceno word has its meaning, which many tend to equal to that of "arrogant inhabitant of the capital city"." Huh?? What's wrong here? I never got that impression, (oh well, maybe a little when dealing with the person that oozes out that "I hate gringos" attitude. It also reads somewhere "pacenos are dishonest, introverted, lack international relations, have no respect for the city they live in, have no respect for the local laws, intolerant, racists, lack of planning skills and thus improvise too much". STOP!! I had to start reading that whole post and not just do a "fly-over"….. arent we lucky here at the mexican La Paz on the Baja Peninsula?? That person was writing about the other La Paz, nope – not the one in Arizona but the one in Bolivia. The whole thing can be seen here.
