Construction in La Paz
As you can see in this picture below - The view of El Mogote is nothing more than construction cranes. It will be always a questionable project in some people eyes as so far I never hear anything good from whoever I talk to about it. It's not up to me to comment on it and the impact it has on La Paz. Real estate development in La Paz and all Baja Sur is just "the thing" and will bring people here for investment- which in turn is good for the local community.
I'm more out today to write about another construction project here in La Paz, the new 7 floor building next to the La Concha - the La Concha Pearl. The work is done by NewTek Construction Solutions, a La Paz Construction company with Les Zwaryck as CEO. The amazing thing to me is the way they built that project. I think it is originally a german patent that made its way to North America about 20 years ago. With NewTek as ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) distributors for Mexico these building systems have made their way to the Southern Baja. This Quad-Lock and Quad-Deck system is used to build the La Concha Pearl. It's almost like Legos, the little toy bricks kids play with. They put insulated forms up, put the steel in it and poor concrete in - finished! Additional benefits: the foam provides great insulation and therefore the rooms stay cool and less energy is needed for A/C. Great stuff! We give Newtek and Quad-Lock a thumbs-up for that. Plus of course, NewTek and the Quad-Lock chase trucks have been a great help at the Baja 1000 this year for the Baja Quest Racing Team.
