The State Government, Secretary of Tourism, Trust of Tourism combined with the Association of Hotel and Tourism Companies of La Paz have united their efforts in a promotional campaign to insure that the city and port of La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico becomes a tourist destination at an international level. Supporting factor in that quest is the elevated construction in the area of established developments like Costa Baja, Bahia de Suenos and Paraiso del Mar. A promising coordination with Mexico-Kanko established a new La Paz – Tokyo – La Paz connection through Tiajuana on Wednesdays and Saturdays or on Mondays and Thursdays through Mexico City D.F.. A specialized press public relations group will be in charge of familiarizing potential Japanese visitors with the beauty the different destinations of Baja California Sur have to offer. In addition  Asahi Television Channel 10, Tokyo supports this campaign with broadcasts about the area. This includes information about the service industry that greater La Paz has to offer as well as introduces its viewers to culture and folkloric backgrounds of the Baja California Sur.

The weekend of May 5-6 the Dos Mares Off-Road Race is here. An extreme off-roading competition that draws competitors from all over Mexico is taking place. The route runs alongside the Pacific and ends at Medano Beach in Cabo. The Dos Mares 500 has been the longest running National Championship Race in Mexico. It is the "King" of Offroad Racing in Mexico. and to our information ( no guarantees) the ONLY National Championship Offroad Race on the Baja Peninsula.

Just for the fun of it – every day (at least) 1 picture from La Paz. We are working on a live webcam stream from a good location to overview parts of the bay and until that is finalized we'll do the daily-picture thing…

It's still a little time until the green flag drops and it's racing again. The SCORE Intl. racing calender announces the 40th anniversary Baja Mille race for the time of November 10 – 16 2007. Starting in Ensenada and the finish-line will be at Lands End in Cabo San Lucas! La Paz will miss out a little this year but I guess the next time the checkered flag will be in La Paz again ( just guessing). Robby Gordon and Co. do have many fans in La Paz as well there is a huge Offroad community here. Check out Puro Off Road for information regarding Desert Racing, Driver bios and some gnarly race-truck info. Puro Offroad's blog gets periodic news on the classic "desert mille" and other offroad events such as the famous Paris – Dakar and the intl. RAID series.

(almost) fresh of the press news…nah, just a pointer for you to see La Paz's beauty captured by R.C. Photo. He spent his hard earned vacation time to do this tough job. We think that's worth to look at.

we did some extensive "google-ing" for an existing La Paz Blog and all we came up with was either La Paz in Bolivia or some La Paz County / AZ blog but nothing in English writing and/or for La Paz Baja. We at the La Paz Infotheque are not so privileged to call ourselves the "official" website of the City of La Paz ( could someone define for me "official" anyway please….). However, we try to cover as much La Paz related topics as possible (check also our Bulletin Board, we are so free to call it Mercado Libre, roflmao…) and did add this La Paz Blog feature to our Infotheque website for you to use. Maybe the importance would rise if we call it the official La Paz blog??
