Hurricane Jimena has lost more of its muscle, dropping to a Category 1 storm with 90 mph (145 kph) top winds off Baja California. La Paz get off easy as Hurricane Jimena moves north. Government offices and schools remain closed until tomorrow. There has been no reporting of excessive flooding or other hurricane related incidents across a wide spectrum of friends, acquaintance and businesses contacted this morning. There is a report on an arroyo north by Santa Rita that the carretera #1 is flooded.
At the present moment, 12:42 La Paz time we can only observe occasional wind gusts in the Fidepaz area. No more rain showers since the early morning.
In Los Cabos resorts mopped up after an overnight lashing from the once-mighty hurricane, which weakened Wednesday as it doused the southern end of Mexico’s sparsely populated Baja California Peninsula. Jimena was considerably weaker than it had been just a few days ago, but it remains a hurricane and Mexican and U.S. authorities warned people to hunker down.
