Teatro de La Ciudad - 23.05.2007

Paceno By Paceno • May 23rd, 2007 • Category: La Paz

Today we headed away from the beaches and went "inland" - nice and sunny. We walked the street around the Teatro de la Ciudad, got some fresh rolls at the bakery - yummie! - did our daily shots in that area. Some front yards of houses, of course the Teatro and saw all the little places and businesses making there living. Gave us inspiration for another page on the La Paz Infotheque we will start tomorrow. In the USA I heard the description ".. thats a hole in the wall" as I went the first time to Hodads Burgers ( OB, San Diego) back when theywere still on Volair or whatever the name of that street was, right next to the Texas Tea House ( another hole in the wall). Anyway, at that time I was learning English on the streets.  This "hole in the wall" expression got stuck!! My english is still not much better 20 years later, Hodads Burger moved 15 years ago to Newport Ave. in OB to become kinda real restaurant and those "hole in the walls", well –I find them in La Paz now. In fact, I like them. I have found some great taco, burritos, hamburgesas, perro caliende and coffee places. Good food and pleasing on the wallet! So stay tuned and look tomorrow for the "hole in the wall" page on the site ( not here in the blog). Here comes today's photo selection:

One day, one day…. we will have enough time to learn Spanish and be able to read all of that (each pillar has a placard on it), one day…

dat.com
They call him "Buddha" -hehehe, no, just kidding. That's Horacio at dat.com, if you've got any hardware problems or need decent priced new parts for your PC and printer, repairs or cartridge refills - he's the man to see - and in additional: he speaks pretty good English.

Hard working mexicans on display... ;-)
Sinaloense Food place - in other words: they sell some ingredients (flour) for food preparation from Sinaloa.

Whale bones
La Paz and whales do belong together. One of the big things is eco tourism in La Paz and the Baja, whale watching goes with it. Some people even have them whale bones in the front yard…. At least I guess that's what they are - did not see a Saint Bernard Dog anywhere nearby by whose chew it could be….

Sharks in La Paz, right at Felix Ortega
Got to send that to the guys from the Shark Society Blog

Fisher boat prop in La Paz seafood stand
and around the corner is what I guess is the shark's point of view: on the run - the fisherman's boat propeller

I wanna go there when it's windy - that is ONE serious collection of wind chimes!! I respect peoples privacy and did not want to disturb, therefore quality of pic not so good because of distance - that whole porch is full of them gizmos…

That's it for today, tomorrow more and with the correct date in the pics. Saludos
